Start with flexibility. The BD7004 reads virtually every popular disc format available today: Blu-ray (both commercial releases and recordable discs), DVDs (movies and DVD-R/RWs), as well as standard and recordable CDs. Then add SD and SDHC memory card capability. Include their mini-and microSD cousins. In addition, the BD7004 handles DivX and AVCHD files.
Now you’ve got a single source component. Talk about simple system configuration!
As far as Blu-ray discs go, note that the BD7004 is a “BD Live” player that conforms to the most recent Profile 2.0 specification. This means you can access additional content on the internet provided, of course, that the player is connected to the web. You’ll also be able to update the BD7004’s “firmware” (a mini operating system) to take advantage of new features as they become available.
But what about quality? This second-generation media player brings a host of technologies under the discipline of traditional Marantz engineering. The result? Audio and video quality that will challenge your perceptual abilities.
On the video front, you’ll find scaling by Anchor Bay. And not just Anchor Bay’s previous award-winning DVDO technology either. Instead, this advanced processor, part of Anchor Bay’s Video Reference Series, combines exclusive circuits like Progressive ReProcessing (PReP ™), Precision Video Scaling™, Precision Deinterlacing™, RightRate™, AutoCUE-C™, Precision AV LipSync™, Fine Detail & Edge Enhancement, and Mosquito Noise Reduction. After that, there’s a 297 MHz/12 bit Analog Devices noise shaper/video D/A converter for high definition analog output.
Of course, the BD7004 also includes an HDMI output built to 1.3a standards so you can enjoy breathtaking detail.
Audio capabilities include internal decoding for both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. This mandates exceptional performance from the BD7004’s analog audio stage. To that end, Marantz engineers specified many custom parts like low-ESR Elna capacitors for all seven channels. In addition, the design team paid particular attention to circuit board layout with a concentration on proper grounding techniques for exceptional low-noise performance.
Cosmetically, the BD7004 sports the new Marantz design. The sleek 3.5” contoured front panel combines both aluminum and reinforced resin composite to damp resonance and blend with virtually any décor. A second metal plate reinforces the player’s top cover for increased vibration control. And the centrally located disc mechanism places the critical disc-laser interface in the middle of the chassis to minimize the kind of artifacts that could impact both audio and video quality.
Controlling the BD7004 is easy. There’s a hand-held controller for “out of the box” access to the player’s many capabilities. There’s a rear panel RS-232 jack so you or your installer can easily integrate this player into an advanced touch-screen control system. When used in more conventional systems, the BD7004’s IR flasher input and output jacks make component-to-component connections simple.
The BD7004. A unique combination of advanced technology at a surprisingly affordable price. It’s proof positive that the best – a Marantz, of course – needn’t be the most expensive.
